My name is Sean A. Floyd, and I am running to serve as your next Prince George’s County Council Member At-Large.

Prince George’s County is — and will always be — my home. It is where I received my education, began my professional career, purchased my first home, and continue to live today.

As a proud child of Prince George’s County, I attended Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary School, Oxon Hill Middle School, and graduated from Oxon Hill High School — Go Clippers!

I often say that it takes a village to raise a child, and I know that to be true because I was raised by a strong village of family, educators, mentors, and community leaders who believed in me every step of the way. Because of their support, I became a first-generation college graduate on both sides of my family, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and a certificate in Project Management.

I come from a family of veterans, union workers, and public servants who taught me the importance of hard work, service, and commitment to community. Those values have guided me throughout my career in education, public service, and civic engagement.

As an educator, I have worked with Prince George’s County Public Schools, D.C. Public Charter Schools, and served as a professor at George Washington University. My passion has always been helping students and families succeed and creating opportunities for the next generation.

In public service, I served as Director of Scheduling for D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and later as Chief of Staff to the Mayor’s Senior Advisor during the administration’s first term. In that role, I managed agency operations, budgets, legislative initiatives, and special projects at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

My commitment to civic engagement extends across every level of government and community organizing. Most recently, I served as Manager for National Programs & Outreach and Unity Campaign Manager for the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation. I have also worked on successful campaigns for Angela Alsobrooks for County Executive, New Yorkers for Bill de Blasio, and served as Pennsylvania State Operations Director for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

Today, I continue serving our community as Vice Chair of the Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, a member of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Alumni Council, a board member for the Black Student Fund, and a member of the Suitland Civic Association.

I am running for Prince George’s County Council At-Large because I believe every resident deserves to be heard, every community deserves opportunity, and together we can continue moving Prince George’s County forward.
